The common problems and solutions of thermal gas mass flow meters are as follows, classified by fault type:
1, Display Exception
No display or black screen
Reason: Power failure (power outage, unstable voltage), internal circuit damage, loose or damaged display screen pins, DC24V power supply polarity reversed.
Solution: Check the power connection and voltage stability; Confirm that the positive and negative poles of DC24V are correct; Re insert the display screen pins or replace the display screen; Contact the manufacturer to repair the circuit.
Instantaneous flow anomaly (large fluctuation/zero display)
Reason: reversed probe direction, dirty or damaged sensor, incorrect parameter settings (range/filtering coefficient), flow field disturbance (insufficient straight pipe section, valve interference).
Solution: Correct the direction of the probe; Clean or replace sensors; Check the flow rate parameters and filtering coefficients; Ensure that the upstream straight pipe section is ≥ 5D (pipe diameter) and away from valves/elbows.
2, Measurement accuracy issue
Large reading deviation
Reason: Changes in gas composition, fluctuations in environmental temperature and pressure, sensor contamination, improper installation location (not in the center of the pipeline/liquid accumulation).
Solution: recalibrate the instrument; Clean the sensor; Adjust the installation position to the center of the pipeline; Vertical pipelines prevent misjudgment of airflow direction.
Abnormal 4-20mA output
Reason: Range setting error, wiring loop issue, converter failure 9.
Solution: Verify the range configuration; Check the wiring and eliminate interference; Contact the supplier to repair the converter.
3, Response performance issues
Slow response speed
Reason: Sensor aging, internal processing delay.
Solution: Replace the sensor; Upgrade the instrument firmware or hardware.
Unstable flow control (fluctuation)
Reason: Low or unstable air source pressure, loose circuit connectors, and faulty regulating valves.
Solution: Stabilize the gas source pressure; Tighten circuit connectors; Repair or replace the regulating valve.
4, Installation and maintenance issues
Installation errors leading to malfunctions
Error type: Reverse flow direction (probe arrow does not match airflow), insufficient straight pipe section (<5D), misjudgment of airflow direction in vertical pipeline.
Consequence: Negative flow display, error exceeding ± 15%.
Correction: Install strictly according to the flow direction markings; Ensure the upstream straight pipe section; Confirm the airflow from bottom to top in the vertical pipeline.
Sensor blockage or contamination
Prevention: Clean the pre filter monthly; Blow dry nitrogen in both directions for at least 30 minutes during shutdown.
5, Environmental and operational requirements
Temperature and humidity influence
Requirement: Environmental temperature -20 ºC~55 ºC; Avoid high humidity environments (which may cause the probe to become damp).
Operation taboos
It is prohibited to install/remove non plug and unplug probes under pressure;
Avoid sudden valve opening causing flow shock;
Disable compressed air blowing instrument.
